Preparation and Precautions:

“It was necessary to be in touch with the agencies concerned and notify them of the weather forecasts at the holy places so that they can take precautions during this year’s Hajj,” stated Ghulam, the head of the National Centre of Meteorology, after a workshop examining the climate impact on the 2024 pilgrimage.

Health Risks for Pilgrims:

The anticipated scorching temperatures will pose serious health risks for the millions of Muslims expected to embark on the Hajj pilgrimage to Makkah. Heat-related illnesses such as heat stroke and dehydration are significant concerns.

Record-Breaking Attendance Expected:

Surge in Umrah Pilgrims:

Saudi authorities are preparing for potentially record-breaking attendance following a surge in Umrah pilgrims during Ramadan. Since May 9, Pakistani pilgrims have been arriving in Madinah as part of pre-Hajj flight operations.

Pakistani Pilgrims:

According to the Ministry of Religious Affairs, a total of 28,743 Pakistani pilgrims have arrived in Madinah through 120 flights as of Tuesday.

Global Participation:

This year, approximately 2.5 million Muslims from around the world, including 179,210 from Pakistan, will perform the religious obligation of Hajj. The pilgrimage is expected to take place from June 14-19.

Conclusion:

As Hajj 2024 approaches, the extreme heat forecast presents a significant challenge for pilgrims. The Saudi government and concerned agencies are taking measures to ensure the safety and well-being of the faithful during this time. Pilgrims are advised to stay informed about weather conditions and take necessary precautions to mitigate health risks.
